SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- The LIU Brooklyn women's soccer team lost 3-0 to Bryant in Rhode Island on Sunday in Northeast Conference action. The Blackbirds (2-12-3, 0-6-1) will finish up the 2018 season next Saturday at Robert Morris.

Senior Marian Awad led the Blackbirds with six shots, of which, three were on goal. Freshman Emily Poole took two shots and classmate Mary Twetten had one shot on goal in the game for LIU. Freshman Meghan Haley (one save) started in goal for the visitors and sophomore Megan Virgin played in goal (two saves) for LIU in the second half.

Sophomore Amanda Spitaleri scored all three goals for Bryant, the first coming in the 16th minute, as she collected her first career hat trick. Sophomore Meghan Dalton (four saves) earned her fifth shutout of the season for the Bulldogs (8-6-1, 4-2-1), who are in the thick of the NEC playoff race, having won their last two conference matches.

LIU drops to 5-4-1 all-time against Bryant, through the first ten years of the rivalry, since the first game in 2009. The Blackbirds will travel to Moon Township, Pennsylvania for Saturday's 3:00 p.m. kickoff to close out the slate.
