BROOKLYN, N.Y— The LIU Brooklyn field hockey team will close out the 2018 season at LIU field on Thursday, October 25 at 4 pm with a matchup against Fairfield.

The Blackbirds dropped a pair of MAAC contests last weekend, falling to Sacred Heart, 6-3 and 2-0 to Bryant on senior day.
van Wakeren Earns Weekly Honors
Freshman Eva van Wakeren was named MAAC Rookie of the week for the third time this season after posting her second hat trick of the season against the Pioneers last Friday. The first-year midfielder ranks fourth in the MAAC with 24 points on the season and third in goals with 11 on the season.
SCOUTING THE STAGS
Fairfield enters the weekend 10-7 overall and 2-2 in MAAC play. The Stags have clinched a spot in the MAAC Tournament and will look to solidify a top seed to defend its MAAC Championship crown in the last year of MAAC competition. Fairfield leads the conference in goals against average, surrendering just 1.42 goals per game which ranks 16th in the nation. Emma Matlach leads the team with 10 goals and seven assists on the season. Her 27 points are the third most among MAAC leaders. Zoe Rosen leads the conference with a 1.45 goals against average and ninth in the country with a .778 save percentage.
