BROOKLYN, N.Y. -- The LIU Brooklyn women's soccer team will close out the 2018 season with 3:00 kickoff at Northeast Conference foe Robert Morris on Saturday. The Blackbirds (2-12-3, 0-6-1) will try to get into the win column for the the first time since September 9, when they beat Iona in Brooklyn.
Blackbirds senior Marian Awad (7 goals, 14 points) will finish the season as the team's leading scorer with her most prolific season in her four year career. The Haifa, Israel native is currently 10th all-time at LIU in points (34), sixth in goals (16) and fourth in shots with 173, only six attempts from the top spot in school history.
Despite topping Sacred Heart last weekend, RMU (5-12, 3-4 NEC) is on the outside looking in at the NEC Tournament, and will finish up their season on Saturday as well. Prior to the contest, the Colonials will celebrate senior day for Victoria Kraemer, Samantha Lackner, Keirsten Van Horn, Anni Varjonen and Jane Schleicher, who leads the NEC in goals (11) and points (22) in her final campaign.
LIU is 12-7-2 all-time against the Colonials, including last year's 2-0 loss at LIU field. Robert Morris has won the last four meetings in the rivalry that dates all the way back to 1997.
