STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.— The LIU Brooklyn men's track & field team started off its indoor season at the Fast-Track Season Opener at the Ocean Breeze Track & Field Complex in Staten Island.
LIU had a strong showing in the 500 meter event with four runners finishing in the top-10. The Blackbirds recorded the top two times as senior Braylon Wilkerson ran a personal best and ECAC mark of 1:03.83 for the top time in the event. Junior Kasique Oliver finished second with a ECAC mark of 1:04.30 in his first race with LIU. Junior Kimorie Shearman ran a time of 1:05.59 to finish eighth overall and junior Collin Sewell finished 10th with a time of 1:05.89.
In the 60 meter event, Shearman and Sewell finished second and third respectively. Shearman ran a time of 6.99 in his strong opening meet as a Blackbird and Sewell ran a personal best time of 7.02. Justin Brown finished just outside the top-10 with a time of 7.16.
Oliver rounded out the day on the track for LIU with a third place finish in the 1000 meter event with a time of 2:33.29.
In the field events, senior Clinton Belle finished second in the shot put event with a personal-best throw of 15.98m.
The Blackbirds close out the fall semester at Ocean Breeze for the Seahawk Shoot-Out on Friday, December 7 at 2:00 p.m.
