Final Results
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.— The LIU Brooklyn men's track & field team closed out the 2018 calendar year at the Seahawk Invitational at Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island.
The Blackbirds had a strong day at the track, blazing the field in the men's 60 meter sprint with seven runners in the top-15. Junior Kimorie Shearman continued his strong start with a time personal best time of 6.94 to claim the top spot in the 60 meter sprint. Junior Collin Sewell recorded a personal best time of 7.01. Seniors Roderick Moodie and Deshawne Bunion finished back-to-back in sixth and seventh in the race with times of 7.06 and 7.07 respectively. Senior Kobe White, junior Ceiquan Brown and sophomore Justin Brown finished 11th, 12th and 13th in the event.
LIU continued its afternoon with two relay teams in the 4x400 relay event. The group of White, Bunion, junior Kasique Oliver and senior Braylon Wilkerson took home the top spot with an IC4A mark of 3:15.22. The Blackbirds second team of J. Brown, Shearman, Sewell and senior Logan Jones finished narrowly behind the first team. just .10 seconds off the pace with a time of 3:15.32. In the field events, senior Clinton Belle finished second in the shot put event with a throw of 16.17 meters just .10 meter off the top throw.
The Blackbirds are back on the track in 2019, opening the new year at the Wagner College Invitational on January 4 at Ocean Breeze.
