BROOKLYN, N.Y. --- - The LIU Brooklyn women's basketball team will begin its final weekend of the regular season on Friday evening with an Northeast Conference rematch against the Bryant Bulldogs.

QUICK HITS
  • After a 62-53 victory over FDU on February 24, the Blackbirds suffered a 63-43 defeat to the Sacred Heart Pioneers on February 26. Senior DeAngelique Waithe recorded a double-double of 15 points and 13 rebounds while graduate transfer Denisha Petty-Evans and senior Stylz Sanders each chipped in 12 points.
  • Sanders shot 5-for-6 from the field and 2-for-2 from the line to surpass her 11-point effort at Mount St. Mary's on February 3. The five field goals also tied her season-best from the Mount St. Mary's game.
  • Waithe's double-double was the 11th of her career, tenth of the season, and first since logging 12 points and ten boards against Robert Morris on February 10
  • The SHU game snapped an 85-game streak of LIU making at least one three-pointer as a team. The last time the Blackbirds failed to hit a triple was November 14, 2015 in their season opener at Buffalo.
  • Petty-Evans (15.1 ppg), freshman Jeydah Johnson (12.8 ppg), senior DeAngelique Waithe (8.7 rpg) and redshirt junior Drew Winter (4.8 apg) continue to pace the Blackbirds, with LIU sporting a top-5 conference performer in every category (Petty-Evans: 4th in scoring; Waithe: 3rd in rebounds; Winter: 3rd in assists).
  • Waithe has seen her numbers jump the most during NEC play. Her season averages (12.0 ppg, 8.7 rpg) improve to 14.7 ppg and 9.7 rpg against fellow league opponents.
  • Winter is currently tied for the NEC lead in assist to turnover ratio (1.5).
  • LIU is the only team in the NEC to have three players in the top 12 in scoring (Petty-Evans: 4th; freshman Jeydah Johnson: 9th; Waithe: 12th).
  • As a defensive unit, LIU ranks as one of the best in the NEC. The Blackbirds rank third in field goal defense (.399), and steals (9.5).
  • Bryant has split its last six games and lost its last two at home to Robert Morris and Saint Francis. The Bulldogs defeated the Blackbirds in their first meeting this season, a 75-56 game in Smithfield, R.I.
  • The Bulldogs are led by Sydney Holloway (17.5 ppg, 10.3 rpg) and Kierra Palmer (5.5 apg).
