BROOKLYN, N.Y. --- Graduate transfer Denisha Petty-Evans and senior DeAngelique Waithe were both named to the All-Northeast Conference (NEC) Second Team, the league office announced today. All NEC accolades were voted on by the league's head coaches.

Petty-Evans made an immediate impact on the Blackbird program after coming to Brooklyn from Siena. The Bridgewater, N.J. native started all 29 games in the regular season, leading the Blackbirds in scoring (15.3 ppg, 4th in NEC), field goals made (164), three-pointers made (62; 2.1 per game, 8th in NEC) and steals (59; 2.0 spg, 5th in NEC) while also adding 3.1 rebounds and 1.5 assists per contest. She has posted six 20-point games, including a career-high 29 in a win over Central Connecticut on January 29, and won a pair of NEC Player of the Week awards the year on November 20 and January 24. Her 62 three-pointers this season have secured a place for her on the LIU single-season top-10 list.

Waithe has put together an outstanding finale to her LIU career. She ranks in the NEC top ten in points (12.6, T-9th), rebounds (8.9, 3rd), field goal percentage (.512, 3rd), steals (1.8, t-8th), blocks (1.9, 3rd), offensive rebounds (3.6, T-1st), and defensive rebounds (5.3, 5th) - each of which represent career highs. She is also one of three NEC players to record 10 or more double-doubles, recording 11 - of the 12 in her career - this season. She won her first NEC Player of the Week honor in the last week of the regular season after averaging a double-double last week (20.5 ppg on 57.7 percent shooting, 11.0 rpg) and adding 4.0 blocks and 3.5 assists per contest. She set new career bests in points and rebounds during double-double efforts this year - 24 points against Fairleigh Dickinson on January 29 and 16 boards on Senior Day against CCSU on March 4. Waithe will leave LIU as a top-40 all-time scorer (712 pts), a top-15 career rebounder (592), and second all-time in single-season (55) and career (89) blocks.

Together, the duo helped LIU return to the NEC Tournament for the second time in three years and win the most games (12) of head coach Stephanie Del Preore's three-year tenure with the Blackbirds.
