BROOKLYN, N.Y. - For the second time this year, LIU Brooklyn sophomore Carolina Ronchel has been recognized for her skill on the golf course, as she was named the Northeast Conference's women's Golfer of the Week, it was announced by the league office Wednesday afternoon.
Ronchel won the individual crown at the Vanessa Picciotto Perrine Intercollegiate Tournament to help lead the Blackbirds to the team title over the weekend. The Huelva, Spain product fired a three-over 147 to defeat the field by five strokes. She posted the lowest scores in each round, shooting a 74 and 73 on the Quail Valley Golf Course in Littlestown, PA. Ronchel, who was previously named the September NEC Player of the Month, used eight straight pars on the back-nine to close out the final round and secure LIU's first team win of the season, and the first individual victory of her career.
