HAMILTON, N.Y.— The LIU Brooklyn field hockey team was unable to hold off two unanswered goals by Colgate, dropping the 2-1 decision at Tyler's Field on Sunday afternoon.

The Raiders controlled the ball in the first half, putting up 11 shots. Junior goalkeeper Molly Jannell made six saves in the period to keep the game scoreless.

The Blackbirds picked up the offensive tempo in the second half, netting the first goal of the season. Sophomore Jenna Chrabolowski found the back of the net on the deflection goal off the assist from freshman Eva van Wakeren at 41:06.

LIU's lead did not last long as Colgate responded with the equalizer from Nora Mulroy less than 90 seconds later to put the score at 1-1. The Raiders would pick up the eventual game winner at 61:29 as Olivia Krogermeir's shot went just under the crossbar past the reach of Jannell. The Blackbirds pulled the empty net just over four minutes to go in regulation looking to tie the game up. Junior Madi Cook fired two shots on goal but was denied by Colgate goalie Anna Unger to hold the final at 2-1.
