SIMSBURY, Conn. ---- The LIU Brooklyn men's golf team opened its 2018-19 schedule at the Ryan T. Lee Collegiate at Hop Meadow Country Club this weekend. The Blackbirds concluded the two-round event on Sunday, finishing 13th overall with a score of 64-over 640 (308-332).
Seniors George Helsby and Daniel Reale both carded a 74 on the second day of competition to pace the Blackbirds scoring group. Helsby finished tied for 26th overall by shooting a 7-over 151 (77-74), while Reale tied for 37th overall shooting 10-over 154 (80-74).
Freshman Kyle Underwood started his collegiate career off strong on day-one of competition by shooting 1-over par, he would finish tied for 46th place, 13-over (73-84). Fellow freshman Abelardo Yepez carded a 16-over (77-83) finishing tied for 57th place, sophomore Manuel Sosa shot 18-over par (79-83), freshman Vincent DiCosimo shot back-to-back rounds of 82 to finish 20-over (82-82) . Sophomore Jayden Brown closed out the Blackbirds group at 23-over (79-88).
Sacred Heart, Bryant and Saint Peter's finished atop the team leaderboard, with the Pioneers taking the team title with a nine-over 585.

LIU is back in action Monday September 17th, when they will travel to South Kent, Connecticut to participate in the Hartford Hawks Invitational at Bulls Bridge Golf Club.
