BROOKLYN, N.Y.— The LIU Brooklyn field hockey team closes out its three-game homestand in downtown Brooklyn against La Salle on Sunday, September 30 with a 3:30 p.m. start from LIU Field.
LAST TIME OUT
After an eight-game road stretch to open the season, LIU finally kicked off its home slate last weekend. The Blackbirds hosted Lock Haven for the home opener last Friday, falling 5-0 to the Bald Eagles.
LIU concluded the weekend with a 6-2 victory over Lehigh on Sunday as seven players registered a point in the first home win of the season. Freshman Eva van Wakeren led the Blackbirds offensively with a hat trick. Junior Madi Cook and sophomore Jenna Chrabolowski tallied a goal and an assist. Freshman Riley Lambert also registered her first collegiate goal. Junior Molly Jannell recorded 10 assists in the win for the Blackbirds.
SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS
La Salle enters the weekend 4-5 on the year, with all four wins this season coming at home. The Explorers fly out to Saint Louis on Friday before coming to LIU Field on Sunday. Logan Oh is the team's leading point scorer with 12 points on four goals and four assists on the season. She is tied for the team lead in goals with Rialee Allen. Emma Provost has started all nine games in goal for La Salle recording a 2.15 goals against average.

The Blackbirds open MAAC play next Friday, October 5 with a trip down to Monmouth. The 4:00 p.m. contest will be aired on ESPN3 from "So Sweet A Cat" Field.
