STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.— The LIU Brooklyn men's indoor track and field team continued its busy start to the new year at the Gotham Cup on Friday afternoon at Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.
LIU had a strong showing in the triple jump event sweeping the top three spots by three first-year student athletes. Freshman Jared Lovelace led the charge with a IC4A qualifying jump of 14.65 meters. Classmate Jahsira Dunbar finished second with a IC4A mark of 14.56 meters. Krishna White recorded a IC4A mark of 14.38 meters for a new personal best. All three rookies now lead the top-three in the Northeast Conference in the event.
Junior Kasique Oliver finished fifth in the men's 1000 meter with a personal best time of 2:29.66. Justin Brown finished fifth in the 400 meter event with a time of 49.93. His time is the fifth fastest in the NEC this season. Senior Kobe White finished with a season best in the 200 meters with a time of 22.44 to place in the top-20.
Senior Clinton Belle closed out the Blackbirds day in the shot put event with a third place finish with a throw of 15.03 meters.
LIU is back on the track next Saturday, January 26 at the Dr. Sander Invitational in Manhattan
