The Blackbirds carried a 193.3 average in on the middle day of the tournament to rank in 12th place in a huge field of 28 teams, which includes 20 nationally-ranked opponents. LIU will conclude the three-day event with Sunday's bracketed playoff, when they face No. 20 Alabama-Birmingham in the first match beginning at 8:30 a.m., as the team will look to finish in the top ten at the event. The Blackbirds started off the day with a convincing, 968-860, victory over Howard, as sophomore Jennifer Roback led the way with a 232 and junior Tyler Karpinecz threw a 203 in the match. In the next match, No. 4 Arkansas State topped LIU, 1128-913. Sophomore Kellie Frain led the way in match number two with a 238 game. LIU fell to No. 6 Tulane, 934-913 in a squeaker, as Frain (206) and Roback (202) each dropped over 200 pins in the match. The Blackbirds followed that with a 1048-949 loss to No. 12 Wisconsin-Whitewater, despite a team-high 213 by Karpinecz. The Blackbirds finished up the day with a resounding 1035-922 win over No. 22 Maryville, as the team's two veterans paced the team.
