RESULTS
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.— The LIU Brooklyn men's track & field team opened the 2019 calendar year at the Wagner College Invitational at Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island on Friday afternoon.
The Blackbirds continued to perform in the 60 meter dash as four runners finished in the top eight. Junior Kimorie Shearman blazed the field for the top spot with a new personal best time of 6.86. His IC4A qualifying time currently paces the NEC circuit. Senior Caleb Williams finished right behind him with an IC4A qualifying time of 6.88 in his first race of the season. Collin Sewell finished sixth with a time of 7.05 and Ernest Agyeman placed seventh with a mark of 7.13.
LIU also had a strong showing in the 4x400 relay event as the squad of Justin Brown, Logan Jones, Roderick Moodie and Beresford Sweeney crossed the finish line with a time of 3:25.47 to finish fifth in the field. The Blackbirds had another team place inside the top-10 as Kobe White, Braylon Wilkerson, Caleb Williams and Ernest Agyeman recorded a time of 3:27.80 to finish eighth.
In the field events, freshman Krishna White earned a top-five spot in the long jump with a mark of 6.60 meters to finish fifth overall. His mark currently ranks fourth in the NEC.
The Blackbirds are back in action next Saturday in Staten Island as they compete in the Great Dane Classic.
