BOSTON, Mass.— The LIU Brooklyn men's track and field team competed at the BU David Hemery Valentine Invitational on Saturday afternoon in the final tune up before Northeast Conference Indoor Championships next weekend.
LIU's 4x400 relay team consisting of senior Braylon Wilkerson, juniors Kimorie Shearman and Kasique Oliver along with sophomore Justin Brown recorded a first-place finish with a stellar time of 3:12.12 to close out the day. The mark currently paces the NEC circuit by nearly seven seconds.
Shearman started the day with a third place finish in the 200 meter event with personal-best mark of 21.11. He then followed that up with a first place finish the 400 meter event with a IC4A and personal-best mark of 47.05. He currently ranks within the top-50 in the nation for the event.
Senior Caleb Williams and Wilkerson also finished in the top-20 in the 200 meters. Williams ran a time of 21.78 to place 16th and Wilkerson finished just behind him with a time of 21.80 to place 18th in the event.
Wilkerson took fifth overall in the 400 meters for his final individual event crossing the finish line at 47.81. Senior Logan Jones placed in the top-20 in the 500 meters with a personal-best time of 1:05.34. Oliver closed out the individual races for LIU with a top-20 finish in the 800 meters, clocking in at 1:51.48.
The Blackbirds are set to compete at the 2019 NEC Indoor Track & Field Championships February 15-16 at Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.
