SOMERSET, N.J.-- The LIU Brooklyn women's golf team was picked to finish third at the Northeast Conference Championship in the annual Preseason Coaches' Poll as announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon.
Three different teams received first place votes in the 2019 poll, with reigning NEC champion Fairleigh Dickinson tabbed to repeat and 2018 runner-up Sacred Heart close behind in second-place. The Knights received five first-place votes, while SHU tallied one first-place vote. The Blackbirds who are picked third, round out the top three. Saint Francis University earned the last first-place nod, finishing fourth in the poll.
Concluding the poll order is Wagner in fifth-place, Mount St. Mary's in six-place and St. Francis Brooklyn in seventh.
LIU Brooklyn finished the 2018 NEC Championships with a third place showing, juniors Rebeca Pardos and Aida Gonzalez lead the returning players for LIU after finishing in the top-20 last year.
The Blackbirds will open their spring schedule at the Battle of Boulder Creek II in Boulder City, Nevada on Sunday, February 10.
