CHARLOTTE, N.C.— The LIU Brooklyn men's track & field team started off its spring schedule at the Charlotte 49er Classic this weekend.
The Blackbirds were led by senior Roderick Moodie's first place finish in the 110 meter hurdles. Moodie finished just shy of his personal-best in the event, crossing the finish line at 14.22.
Senior Braylon Wilkerson finished runner-up in the 400 meter event for LIU. He recorded an outdoor personal-best mark of 47.31 in his first event of the spring season. His mark ranks fifth among Division I East qualifiers after the opening weekend.
LIU placed three finishers in the top-11 in the triple jump event. Freshman Krishna White placed third with a mark of 14.64 meters. Fellow rookie Jahsira Dunbar placed fourth with a mark of 14.41 meters and junior Jared Lovelace finished 11th with a mark of 13.46 meters.
The Blackbirds 4x400 relay team of seniors Kwesi Henderson, Deshawn Bunion, Corey Butcher and Wilkerson placed third with a time of 3:16.44.
LIU returns to the track in two weeks at the Florida Relays, set for March 28-30 at the University of Florida.
