SOMERSET, N.J.— The Northeast Conference announced its postseason indoor track & field awards on Tuesday afternoon. LIU Brooklyn men's and women's track and field team was represented with 12 spots on the NEC's first, second and all-rookie teams.
The 2019 NEC Indoor Champion men's team earned four spots on the first team, three on the second team and one for all-rookie. Leading the way for the Blackbirds was junior Kimorie Shearman, who earned Most Valuable Performer and Most Outstanding Track Performer (Sprints). Shearman collected All-NEC first team honors in the 60-meter, 200-meter and 400-meter with his event wins. Joining him on the first team is senior Braylon Wilkerson, who collected his second straight 500-meter event win.
On the women's side, senior Eugenie Hue earned a pair of All-NEC First Team honors and Most Outstanding Performer (Distance). She picked up event wins in both the 800-meter and mile events for LIU. Junior Angeli Andre collected her first All-NEC First Team honor and was also recognized as Most Outstanding Performer (Jumps). Andre recorded a event win in the high jump for the Blackbirds.
