DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.- The LIU Brooklyn men's golf team finished its second tournament of the spring season Friday afternoon at the BCU Invitational. The The Blackbirds as a whole climbed the leaderboard two spots to land tenth place out of 16 teams, shooting an overall score of 947 (325,321,301).
Freshman Kyle Underwood led the Blackbirds scoring group for the second-straight time this spring. Underwood carded one stroke over his tournament best of 73, finishing tied for 21st, 14-over 230 (83,73,74). Senior Daniel Reale jumped up the scoring rank five spots to claim 28th place, shooting a tournament low 75 in his final round, 16-over 232 overall (79,78,75). Fellow senior George Helsby climbed the leaderboard an impressive 17 spots on the last day of play to finish in the top 40, posting a 19-over 235 (76,85,74). Sophomore Jayden Brown was fourth for LIU ending play with a score of 250 (87,85,78), while Freshman Abelardo Yepez was five back for the Blackbirds at 264 (89,92,83).
Manuel Sosa completed his individual play with a score of 24-over 240, good for a two-way tie in 55th place.
Augusta University's McCullough Pickens won the individual title (216), while the Jaguars also claimed the team title (878).
NEXT UP: The Blackbirds will have a month off before returning to play at the Towson Spring Invitational from April 5th-7th in Towson, Maryland.
