DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.-- The LIU Women's golf team completed the second day of play at the Northeast Conference Championship Saturday afternoon, finishing three strokes ahead of their first day performance. The Blackbirds currently sit in fifth place with an overall score of 69-over 624. Sunday's final action in Daytona Beach is scheduled to begin at 7:40 a.m.
Four of out five Blackbirds tied or bettered their first round score by two strokes or more. Freshman Ashlee Garrett continued to pace LIU scoring to land in a tie for seventh with a score of 11-over 77. Junior Aida Gonzalez was second for the Blackbirds firing 14-over 78, good for 13th place. In 16th overall was junior Rebeca Pardos, besting her first-round score by one stroke at 17-over 80. Seniors Sara Ciliberto and Emma Paschal both ended the day tied for 23rd, carding 28-over 86 and 28-over 87 respectively.
Pardos (13), Gonzalez (12), and Garrett (8) all added to their par count, Garrett now has four birdies after the second day of play.
Fairleigh Dickinson maintains the lead at 35-over 611 overall, individually Tomita Arejola (5-over 149) of the Knights has a two stroke lead over Chelsea Sedlar of Sacred Heart.
