RESULTS
MILFORD, C.T.-- The LIU Brooklyn men's golf team completed first day action at the Sacred Heart Spring Invitational Sunday afternoon, held the Great River Golf Club in Milford, Connecticut. The Blackbirds are currently sitting two strokes back of the tournament host Sacred Heart, with a score of 8-over 296. This marks the third lowest first-round score for LIU Brooklyn this spring season, behind other stellar performances at the Metro Intercollegiate (290) and last weekends tournament at Towson University (294).
Senior George Helsby tied his season low first-round score firing 2-under 70 to position himself in second place. Freshman Kyle Underwood was next for the Blackbird scoring group at 2-over 74, finding himself in a three-way tie for 8th place. One stroke behind Underwood was sophomore Manuel Sosa as he picked up where he left off at the Towson Invite, tying his seasons best round at 3-over 75 and is tied for 11th. Fellow sophomore Jayden Brown was fourth for the Blackbirds, 16th overall at 5-over 77, while senior Daniel Reale is tied for 32nd at 11-over 83.
Abelardo Yepez competed individually for LIU Brooklyn, carding 7-over 79.
Sacred Heart currently holds the lead at 6-over 294, while Nathan King of SHU sits in 1st at 7-under 65.
The second and final round of the final tournament will begin tomorrow (Monday, April 14th) at 8 a.m.
