Metropolitan Outdoor Championship Results | George Mason Spring Invitational Results
The LIU Brooklyn men's track & field team competed in a pair of meets on Saturday afternoon. The Blackbirds split squad raced in both the George Mason Spring Invitational and the Metropolitan Championships held at Rutgers University.
LIU got off to a strong start in Fairfax, Va. as seniors Caleb Williams and Braylon Wilkerson finished seventh and eighth respectively in the 100 meter finals. Williams clocked in at 10.78 and Wilkerson finished with a personal best 10.89. Both marks were IC4A qualifying times.
Williams followed that up with an eighth place finish in the 200 meter dash with a IC4A qualifying time of 21.59. Senior Roderick Moodie clocked in at 21.84 and sophomore Justin Brown at 22.05, both placing in the top-20 in the event and reaching IC4A marks. In the 400 meter final, junior Kwesi Henderson earned a ninth place finish with a time of 49.37.
The Blackbirds 4x100 relay team of Moodie, Wilkerson, Williams and Brown ran a NEC leading and IC4A time of 41.17 to place second in the event.
On the field side LIU had three jumpers place in the top-five in the triple jump. Freshman Krishna White placed first with a IC4A mark of 14.61 meters. Teammate Jared Lovelace finished runner up with a jump of 14.43 meters. Freshman Jahsira Dunbar placed fourth with a jump of 14.29 meters. White also placed eighth in the long jump event with a mark of 6.52 meters.
At the Metropolitan Outdoor Championships, sophomore Ceiquan Brown turned in a IC4A qualifying time of 10.97 in the 100 meter dash. His personal-best time in the event placed him sixth overall. In the 200-meter dash senior Kobe White clocked in with a personal best time of 22.25 to place sixth.
The Blackbirds 4x400 relay team of White, Cory Butcher, Timothy Roberts and Jermaine Jenkins placed fifth with a mark of 3:34.47.
LIU competes next at the Duke Invitational set to begin on Friday, April 19.
