DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.-- The LIU Brooklyn women's golf team closed out the final round of the Northeast Conference Championship on Sunday afternoon, finishing fifth overall with a three-round total of 108-over 972 (324,321,327). The Blackbirds had three golfers place in the top 18 in the event.
Freshman Ashlee Garrett completed her brilliant first-year campaign with an 11th place finish as she led the LIU scoring group, she closed her rookie campaign with her sixth top-20 finish. Garrett ended the tournament at 20-over 236, shooting 81 on the last day of play (78,77,81). Junior Aida Gonzalez continued her steady-paced performance to finish tied for 13th, posting 23-over 239 (80,78,81). Gonzalez recorded 11 pars on the day (33 overall), putting her tied for fifth individually throughout the tournament in par play. Third for LIU Brooklyn and 16th overall was fellow Spaniard and classmate, junior Rebeca Pardos at 25-over 241 (81,80,80). Pardos accumulated 32 pars through the three-day competition, with nine coming on Sunday.
The senior duo of Emma Paschal and Sara Ciliberto rounded out the Blackbird scoring posting 257 (85,87,85) and 263 (86,86,91) respectively.
Fairleigh Dickinson claimed the team title (+54,918) and individual title as Tomita Arejola controlled the victory finishing 3-over 219.
