RESULTS
MILFORD, C.T.-- The LIU Brooklyn men's golf team completed round two of the Sacred Heart Spring Invitational at the Great River Golf Club Monday afternoon. The Blackbirds had their best team effort of the 2018-19 season, finishing in second place at 19-over 595. Senior George Helsby continued his spectacular play from round-one and earned his best finish of the season, firing an even-144 (70,74) to claim second. Helsby's second place finish is the best individual outcome for a Blackbird this season.
The Blackbirds have now had back-to-back top-5 finishes, landing in fourth place at last weekends Towson Invite. 15-year Head Coach Michael Michaelides had nothing but praise for his squads performance,"I'm super proud of my guys-two solid rounds in tough conditions on a tough course. We continue to trend in the right direction."
Freshman Kyle Underwood shot one stroke over his first round score to finish 5-over 149 (74,75),landing in a tie for 7th place with teammate and sophomore Manuel Sosa. Sosa climbed the leaderboard four spots on day-two to join Underwood in 7th (75,74-149). Sophomore Jayden Brown was third for the Blackbirds, landing in a five-way tie for 12th place at 9-over 153 (77,76). Senior Daniel Reale rounded out LIU Brooklyn's scoring group jumping ten spots to finish in a tie for 22nd, carding 15-over 159 (83,76).
Individually for the Blackbirds, Abelardo Yepez finished in a tie for 25th place at 16-over 160 (79,81).
LIU Brooklyn was one stroke behind the eventual tournament winners Iona College, who carded 18-over 593. Nathan Kim of SHU won the individual title at 5-under 139.

The Blackbirds will have one last final tune-up before NEC's, as they travel to the Navy Spring Invitational in Annapolis, M.D. from April 18th-20th.
