WEST WINSOR, N.J. – The top-seeded LIU Brooklyn women's tennis team had a dominant first round win at the 2019 Northeast Conference Women's Tennis Championship tournament Thursday morning, beating No. 8 seed St. Francis Brooklyn, 4-0. With their win in the quarterfinals, the two-time defending champions advance to the semifinal round tomorrow at 9 a.m.
In doubles, the Blackbirds had two quick wins to clinch the point and take the early lead.
Anna Grigoryan and
Ana Leonte shut out their opponents at No. 1 doubles, 6-0, and
Malin Leysen and
Jennifer Gogova clinched the point with their 6-1 win at No. 3 doubles.
In singles, three quick straight set wins ended the match in favor of LIU. Junior
Sasha Bollweg had a 6-1, 6-1 win over Runsi Patro at No. 3 singles, while senior
Malin Leysen beat Ana Orozco at No.4 singles, 6-1, 6-1. And senior
Clemence Krug shut out Martina Radinovic, 6-0, 6-0 to complete the 4-0 sweep.

Jessica Brzozowska had all won their first sets when the match was called because the Blackbirds had clinched the 4-0 win.
