NEW BRITAIN, Conn. – The LIU Brooklyn women's lacrosse team won their third straight game and started the Northeast Conference season 1-0 Friday evening, beating Central Connecticut State, 14-10.
Amanda Masullo led LIU with six goals, while three other Blackbirds had multiple goals to help propel LIU to the win. LIU is now 4-7 on the season and 1-0 in the NEC, while CCSU moves to 2-8 overall and 1-0 in the league.

CCSU would score first in the game, hitting the back of the net just 39 seconds in, and taking an early 1-0 lead. But it was short-lived. Less than two minutes later, sophomore
Amanda Masullo scored her first goal of the game on a free position shot to tie it up, 1-1. Junior
Bianca Santucci gave the Blackbirds the lead just over a minute later, when she scored an unassisted goal to put LIU on top, 2-1.

The next five goals were scored in alternating fashion by
Amanda Masullo and
Rachel Masullo, as the duo went back and forth to give LIU a 7-2 lead. CCSU would call a timeout, but it did little to slow LIU's momentum. With 10 minutes left in the half, Santucci added a rocket of a goal off a pass behind the net from her sister
Adriana Santucci, and a minute later,
Rachel Masullo found a cutting
Kaylee Riggins wide open in front of the net, and the Blackbirds made 9-2. Masullo would score again at 7:50 on a free position shot to make it 10-2.

CCSU would score twice more in the first half, but so did freshman
Isabelle Peng and
Amanda Masullo, and the Blackbirds had a 12-4 advantage at the halftime break.

In the second half, CCSU would start to get an offense going, scoring six goals to cut down the lead, but
Amanda Masullo and
Kaylee Riggins both scored to help keep the Blackbirds on top, and LIU eventually took the win, 14-10.

Amanda Masullo led the team with six goals, along with four draw controls, while
Rachel Masullo had three goals and two assists.
Bianca Santucci had two goals and an assists, while freshman
Kaylee Riggins had two goals, nine draw controls and three ground balls. Freshman
Isabelle Peng had a goal and two caused turnovers, while
Elise Person had four ground balls. Keeper
