GRASONVILLE, Md. -- The LIU Brooklyn men's golf team fired a six-over 294 to open play at the Towson Spring Invitational. At the midway point of the tournament the Blackbirds currently sit in second place.
Youngstown University holds the lead shooting one-under 287, while Fairfield University and Sacred Heart are tied for third, one stroke behind LIU.
Freshman Kyle Underwood continued his impressive freshman campaign shooting an even 72, to finish in a three-way tie for sixth place. Senior George Helsby recorded a solid afternoon, finishing tied for ninth at one-over 73. Junior Jayden Brown was third for the Blackbirds, posting two-over 74 in a tie for 15th. LIU Brooklyn maintained their presence in the top 30 with Senior Daniel Reale and Sophomore Manuel Sosa both finishing in 22nd at three-over 75.
Freshman Abelardo Yepez competed as an individual, shooting 6-over 78 and sits in 45th place after one round of play.
There is currently a three-way tie for first place between Saptak Talwar of Sacred Heart, Zack Ford of Youngstown State and Kellen Jordan of Fairfield University.
Final Round tee times at Prospect Bay Country Club in Grasonville, Maryland begin Sunday at 8 a.m.
