NEW YORK, NY -- The LIU Brooklyn women's swim team volunteered at Asphalt Green in Manhattan last week for "Big Swim Big Kick," an annual celebration of the joy of sports. At Asphalt Green's Big Swim Big Kick!, children ages 6 to 10 get the chance to participate in a soccer festival on their field and experience the thrill of racing in their Olympic-sized pool. For some of the program's 952 participants and well over 1,000 family members, it was the children's first-ever swim meet.
"It was just a great event to be a part of," said LIU Brooklyn Head Coach Matt Donovan. "The joy on these kids faces was priceless. It was great for our team to pass down their knowledge of how to prepare for a race, how to stand on the blocks, and more to the next generation of swimmers."
Joining coach was all of his underclassmen (in order above): Avery Vernon, Addison Donahue, Jodi Hawki, Jeanne Touchette-McGowan, Lydia Amon, Amanda Peren, Amanda San Juan, Kyleigh Barao, Macie Madden, Mackenzie Burnett, Jacqueline Grabowski and Chelsie Denton.
