SOMERSET, N.J.— The Northeast Conference announced its postseason outdoor track & field awards on Thursday afternoon. LIU Brooklyn men's and women's track & field program was represented with 13 spots on the league's first and second all-conference teams.
LIU's women's track & field team finished fifth at the 2019 NEC Outdoor Championship with 106 points. Junior Angeli Andre paced the meet on her way to Most Valuable Performer honors. Andre accounted for 28.5 points, led by victories in the high jump and 400m dash along with anchoring the Blackbirds 4x100 relay team.
The Blackbirds collected seven first team honors as Andre, sophomore Toni Glatz, senior Eugenie Hue, sophomore Tara Hernandez and junior Taylor Parker collected event wins. The 4x100 relay team of sophomore Michaela Neils, Glatz, senior Ashley Blackwell and Andre earned an event win to cap the meet. LIU also earned second team honors as Blackwell finished runner up in the 200m dash and the 4x400 relay squad of senior Cayla Coleman, Hue, Hernandez and Jasmine Douglas Grant finished second.
On the men's side, LIU placed fourth at the meet held at CCSU. The Blackbirds finished with 74 points over the two day event. Senior Braylon Wilkerson paced the Blackbirds with first team honors, earning the indoor/outdoor sweep in the 400 meter dash.
LIU also received two second team honors as senior Roderick Moodie finished second in the 110 meter hurdles and junior Jared Lovelace finished runner-up in the triple jump. Freshman Krishna White received All-Rookie Team honors in the long jump event for the Blackbirds.
