Brian Duane joined the LIU Brooklyn Athletic Media Relations staff in August of 2018. Duane comes to downtown Brooklyn after two years as the Athletic Communications Graduate Assistant at Northeast Conference counterpart, Sacred Heart University. 

At Sacred Heart, Duane served as media relations contact for 10 of the Pioneers 32 Division I teams including the 2017 Northeast Conference champion women’s golf team, men’s ice hockey, baseball, softball, men’s and women’s soccer, men’s golf, men’s and women’s fencing and cheerleading. 

He led new media initiatives for the Pioneers social media channels with in-game highlights, short form video and GIFs to increase fan engagement. In addition to media relation duties, Duane spearheaded content for Sacred Heart's brand new video boards and served as main run of show operator for the marketing department at men’s and women’s basketball and football games.

He has served on the game day staff of the New York Liberty, transcribing post-game quotes and media requests. Duane has spent the last three years serving as Iona College’s video board operator for in-game entertainment for basketball season. He also has served as freelance camera, 3Play and Ross Expression operator for ESPN3 broadcasts.

Prior to his tenure at SHU, he served as an Athletic Communications Intern at Iona. Duane served as contact for women’s lacrosse team as well as men’s and women’s indoor/outdoor track and field. He assisted in video and social media efforts for the Gaels men’s and women’s basketball team’s NCAA Tournament appearances in 2016. 

After graduating from York College of Pennsylvania in 2015 with a B.A. in Public Relations, Duane received his master’s degree in Sports Communication and Media with a concentration in sports broadcasting from Sacred Heart University in August of 2018.
