Brooklyn, N.Y. – For the third time in the outdoor season, senior
Heather Patton of the Long Island University track and field team was awarded Road Runner Sports Northeast Conference Field Athlete of the Week honors, as announced by the league office on Tuesday.
The award comes on the heels of Patton's triple jump triumph at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pa. After breaking her own Long Island record the previous week, the Bowie, Md., native leapt to a mark of 12.15 meters in Philadelphia to take home the Eastern Division title. Patton defeated 23 regional competitors to take the crown.
Patton will look to pull a repeat of her NEC Indoor Championships performance where she took home Most Outstanding Field Performer honors this weekend at the outdoor championships. The event will be held in West Long Branch, N.J. on May 2-3
