Hanover, N.H. - The Long Island University women's tennis team took part in the ITA Regional Championships, hosted by Dartmouth, with both of the Blackbirds' doubles entrants being eliminated in their first matches. Sophomore Aleksandra Pavlovic was victorious in her first singles match before falling in the round of 64.
Pavlovic was the lone Blackbird to enter the singles draw. She defeated Drexel's Gozde Unkaya, 6-3; 6-3, in the round of 128 on Oct. 23. The following day, Pavlovic fell to Stony Brook's Nini Lagilava, 6-2; 6-1, in the round of 64.
After receiving a bye in the round of 16 of the qualifying doubles bracket, the Long Island newcomer duo of junior Zelie Pfeiffer and freshman Fatima Ouattara lost to Marist's Kelsey Raynor and Joana Sun, 8-3, on Oct. 22.
On Oct. 23, the duo of Pavlovic and senior Dara Lahens fell to Rhode Island's Kristen Leikem and Tristany Leikem, 8-4, in the round of 64 of the main doubles draw.
