West Point, N.Y. - The Long Island University women's tennis team concluded the regular season on a high note with a 4-3 victory at Army. The win improves the Blackbirds to 11-3 for the season.
After dropping the doubles point to fall into a 1-0 hole, Long Island had to win four times in singles play to secure the victory. Senior Selma Babic made easy work of Patricia Vollmer at the No. 1 spot, winning 6-0; 6-1. At the second position, freshman Linn Sjogren scored a 6-2; 7-5 win over Annie Hang. Classmate Taysha Blessington earned a 6-1; 6-1 victory over Paige Ford at the No. 4 spot and senior Stephanie Elie took home a 7-5; 2-6; 6-4 win at the No. 5 position to wrap up the win.
Long Island will return to the court on Friday, April 16 at the Northeast Conference Tournament.
