Blackbirds Fall to Quinnipiac

Orlando, Fla. - The shorthanded Long Island University women's tennis team continues to excel in doubles play but that strength would not be enough to overcome Quinnipiac as the Blackbirds fell 6-1 as part of a four-match spring break trip. Long Island took the doubles point despite fielding only two entries.

The sophomore duo of Aleksandra Pavlovic and Taysha Blessington took the No.1 doubles match over Adrienne Markison and Rachel Cantor by an 8-4 margin. The Blackbirds locked up the point with a win at No. 2 when senior Dara Lahens and sophomore Linn Sjogren scored an 8-5 win over Juliet Labarthe and Sarah Viebrock.

Quinnipiac earned wins at the top five singles spots and was awarded the sixth position victory by default.

Long Island (1-4, 0-1 Northeast Conference) will continue its Florida visit on Thursday, March 17 against Buffalo at 11:30 a.m.
