Orlando, Fla. - The Long Island University women's tennis team wrapped up a four-match spring break trip to Florida with a 7-0 loss to Florida Atlantic. The defeat was the fourth in a row for the Blackbirds, who fell to 1-6 for the spring season.
The duo of senior Dara Lahens and sophomore Linn Sjogren scored Long Island's lone win of the day at the No. 2 doubles, spot, defeating Natasha Phillips and Cassie Bergeson, 8-6. At No. 1, sophomores Aleksandra Pavlovic and Taysha Blessington fell to Justine Humair and Marlene Ryan, 9-7.
With only five healthy players, the Blackbirds were forced to forfeit the No. 3 doubles position and the No. 6 singles point. Long Island dropped the other five singles matches to give Florida Atlantic the sweep.
