Austin, Texas – Members from the Long Island University track and field teams have been busy in Austin, Texas competing at the 84
th Annual Texas Relays. The trip was highlighted by a number of strong performances from the Blackbirds.
Sophomore Kenneth Whitfield Wallace competed in the 800-meter run, racing to a season-best 1:55.72. Whitfield Wallace placed 12th in a stacked field of athletes from across the country. Classmate Brian Richards was eighth in the long jump, leaping to a mark of 7.06 meters.
In the 100-meters dash, sophomore Wilmot Stubblefield clocked in at 11.26, while fellow sophomore
Amber Mitchell recorded a 12.19 in the women's event. Junior
Jazmin Waller competed in the 100-meter hurdles, coming in at 14.11.
Both men's relays teams took 19th place, with the 4x100-meter quartet of Richards, junior Robert Barnes and seniors Corryl Boyd and Sam Egadu recorded a 41.25. Boyd, Barnes and Egadu partnered with Whitfield Wallace for the 4x400-meter relay, clocking in a 3:15.82.
On the final day of competition, Egadu, Boyd, Barnes and Stubblefield competed in the 4x200 meter relay, clocking in at 1:26.65.
