Somerset, N.J. – The Long Island University women's cross country team was picked 12th in the Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll released on Wednesday. Conference rival Quinnipiac was the unanimous preseason favorite, collecting 11 first-place votes from the league's head coaches.

 

Head coach Julia Sandiford will look to seniors Emily Rosario and Tiffany Parker to lead this year's squad. The pair were among the Blackbirds' top runners last season and posted their season-best times at the NEC Championships.

 

The 2011 Northeast Conference Women's Cross Country Championship will be hosted by Monmouth and take place Holmdel Park in Holmdel, N.J., on October 29.
