Tampa, Fla. – The LIU Brooklyn men's and women's track team opened the 2012 outdoor season at the USF Invitational in Tampa, Fla. on Friday. Junior Wilmot Stubblefield set a new school record in the triple jump with a leap of 15.54 meters. Kyle Brown set the old school record of 14.91 meters in 1994.
	Stubblefield took the top spot with his record setting leap. Junior Jamal Roberts took 13th in the 100-meter dash, clocking in at 10.95. Junior Nickolei Mahlung tied for 10th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.04, while freshman Mikhail Williamson was 12th with a time of 22.22.
	Senior Robert Barnes was 13th in the 400-meter dash, racing to a 49.31.  Junior Rogers Kipruto clocked in at 4:04.85 in the 1,500-meter run.  Junior Kenneth Wallace-Whitfield crossed the line in 55.46 in the 400-meter hurdles, putting him in tenth. Classmate Dwayne Layne was 12th with a time of 55.78.
	The men's 4x400-meter “A” squad finished in third place, running a 3:16.47.  Senior Corryl Boyd took third in the long jump with a leap of 7.38 meters, while classmate Jarenn Stewart was sixth with a mark of 7.17 meters. Sophomore Steve Buscema was 10th in the javelin with a throw of 40.57 meters.
	On the women's side, in the 400-meter dash, junior Amber Mitchell raced to a 59.86. Senior Emily Rosario and freshman Katrina Anderson both raced in the 800-meter run, clocking in at 2:27.6 and 2:35.63, respectively.
	Sophomore Camille Thomas was 14th in the 100-meter hurdles, earning a time of 14.96.  Freshman Brittany McClain lead the LIU charge in the 400-meter hurdles, clocking in at 1:07.86.  Sophomore Marilena Riviera, freshman Simone Epps, and junior Tiffany Parker also competed in the event. The women were ninth in the 4x400-meter relay, clocking in at 4:01.72. Senior Jazmin Waller cleared 1.63 meters in the high jump.
	The Blackbirds are back in action on March 28 at the Texas Relays in Austin, Texas.
