Austin, Texas - Select members of the LIU Brooklyn track and field teams competed at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays this past week. A number of Blackbirds posted season-best times at the event.
In the 400-meter hurdles, junior Chris Welch achieved a new personal best, clocking in at 56.80. Freshman Brittany McClain also ran a PR in the women's event with a time of 1:05.98.
Both 4x400-meter relay team also produced personal bests. On the women's side, seniors Jazmin Waller, Torrie Saunders and Kadisha Wickham partered with rookie Shakia Williams for a time of 3:47.83. On the men's side, seniors Robert Barnes and Corryl Boyd along with Welch and freshman Andi Augustin clocked in at 3:13.38.
Junior Wilmot Stubblefield, a recent Northeast Conference Field Athlete of the Week honoree, leapt to a mark of 15.37 meters in the triple jump, earning seventh place. Junior Brian Richards was sixth in the B section of the men's long jump, leaping to a mark of 7.00 meters.
In the men's 100-meter dash, senior Jarenn Stewart raced to a time of 10.72 while freshman Mikhail Williamson clocked in at 10.77. Saunders and Waller both competed in the women's 100-meter hurdles, clocking in at 13.96 and 13.99, respectively. The quartet of junior Nickolei Mahlung, Richards, Williamson and Stewart earned a time of 41.79 in the 4x100-meter relay.
The remainder of the LIU track and field team competes today at the Eric Kloiber Invitational at NEC rival Mount St. Mary's.
