BROOKLYN, N.Y. - The LIU Brooklyn men's soccer team closes out its regular season on Nov. 10 against crosstown rival St. Francis Brooklyn. This Sunday a short ceremony will take place prior to the 1:00 p.m. match to honor the two seniors who will be playing their final game at LIU Field, goalkeepers John Connolly and Nathan Stockie.
ABOUT THE BLACKBIRDS:
The Blackbirds are looking to qualify for their first NEC championship since 2004. LIU Brooklyn is currently tied with Fairleigh Dickinson in fifth place with seven points, and has the potential to compete for the title with a win on Sunday and losses from certain league teams.
The Blackbirds fell to 2-3-1 in the conference last Sunday with their 0-1 loss to Sacred Heart in Fairfield. LIU Brooklyn leads the league with 87. Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Logan Keys is proving himself to be one of the top in the conference, with a .845 save percentage, second in the NEC.
SCOUTING ST. Francis Brooklyn:
The Terriers are 3-3 in the NEC and 9-5-1 in the season, holding the fourth spot in the conference standings. St. Francis Brooklyn averages 1.47 goals per game and has scored the second most in the conference as a team with 22, while allowing 14.
ALL-TIME SERIES:
The Blackbirds are 25-18-3 all time against St. Francis Brooklyn, but the Terriers won the last meeting in 2012, 2-0.
