All-Conference Honorees
Northeast Conference
BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The LIU Brooklyn women's track and field team received a total of nine nods on the All-Northeast Conference Indoor Track & Field teams, it was announced by the league on Thursday. Freshman Ja'Mesha Richard led the Blackbirds with a total of four selections.
Richard captured the Most Outstanding Rookie Performer award after her first place finishes in the 60-meter dash (7.66s) and 60-meter hurdles (8.57s) at the Northeast Conference Championships that took place Feb. 9-10 in Landover, Md. Those gold medal times also set her up for two First Team nods and two All-Rookie Team selections.
Sophomore teammate Katrina Anderson also joined the First Team honorees with her time of 1:16.04 in the 500-meter dash.
Multiple Blackbirds received All-NEC Second Team honors. Sophomore Bryanna Williams earned a pair of second-team accolades with her time of 7.66s in the 60-meter dash and the women's 4x400-meter relay team (freshman Alea Stevens, Williams, freshman Josephine Watson, and Anderson) was also selected with a time of 3:52.27.
Also representing LIU on the second team and All-Rookie Team was Kyaira Wright-Harmon for her second-place finish in the high jump of 1.70 meters.
Next up for the Blackbirds is the USATF N.Y. Open Championship at the Armory in New York City on Saturday, Feb. 23.
