NEW YORK, N.Y. – The LIU Brooklyn women's track and field team completed its day of competiton at the USA Track & Field New York Championships Saturday evening. Senior Amber Mitchell placed first in the 60-meter dash, with freshman Anise Cuffee and teammate Josephine Watson following right behind.
The women swept the top three positions of the 60-meter dash. Mitchell led the Blackbirds with her time of 7.80, followed by Cuffee's 7.98 and Watson's 7.98.
In heat one of the of the 200-meter dash finals, sophomore Katrina Anderson raced to third with her time of 25.86 and freshman Alea Stevens crossed the finish line in 26.38, which was good for fourth place.
Senior Dottie Vea threw a distance of 16.00m in the weight throw to place first.
Next up for the Blackbirds is the ECAC/IC4A Championships at the Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center in Boston, Mass., March 2-3.
