RALEIGH, N.C. – The LIU Brooklyn women's track and field team competed at the Raleigh Relays hosted by North Carolina State and the Monmouth Season Opener on Saturday.
At the Raleigh Relays, freshman Ja'Mesha Richard finished 10th in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.09. Classmate Shanice Grant closed 23rd in the event at 14.55.
Sophomore Katrina Anderson completed the 400 meter dash in 57.25. Teammate Josephine Watson raced to a time of 57.79. Sophomore Shakia Williams crossed the finish line in 59.69.
In the 400 meter hurdles, freshman Alea Stevens finished in 1:04.54. Sophomore Brittany McClain completed the race in 1:06.08.
The 4x100 meter relay team (freshman Anise Cuffee, sophomore Bryanna Williams, Richard, and freshman Josephine Watson) raced to a time of 46.64.
In the 4x200 meter relay of Anderson, Grant, senior Amber Mitchell, and Williams finished in 1:39.52.
In the 4x400 meter relay, the team of Stevens, Anderson, Watson, and Williams completed the race in 3:50.85, which was good for tenth of the 33 schools that competed.
In the long jump, Mitchell leapt to a 4.91m and senior Jasmine Carter jumped to a 4.91m. In the triple jump, Carter recorded an 11.04m in the final.
At the Monmouth Season Opener, senior Dottie Vea placed sixth for her 12.93m toss in the shot put. Sophomore Niteesa Brooks had a throw of 12.03m in the shot. Brooks also competed in the discus with a 33.00m throw
Redshirt sophomore Marielena Rivera raced to a time of 1:08.75 in the 400 meter hurdles. Senior Tiffany Parker crossed the finish line in 1:12.02 and teammate Simone Epps at 1:15.42.
Next up for track and field is the Florida Relays hosted by the University of Florida from April 4-6.
