NEC Championship Results
BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The LIU Brooklyn women's track and field team ended the outdoor season by collecting nine All-Northeast Conference accolades, with one first-team honor, four second-team places, and four spots on the All-Rookie team it was announced by the league on Tuesday.
Freshman Kyaira Wright-Harmon represented LIU on the All-NEC First Team with her strong performance in the high jump. Her first-place finish at the NEC Outdoor Track & Field Championships garnered her a spot on the All-Rookie team, and qualified her for the NCAA East Preliminary Meet on May 22-25.
The Blackbirds also secured four spots on the All-NEC Second Team. Sophomore Katrina Anderson earned a spot for her performance in the 800-meter run, and freshman Ja'Mesha Richard represented LIU in the 110-meter hurdles.
A pair of relay teams found their way onto the second team. The 4x100 relay squad of Richard, sophomore Shakia Williams, senior Amber Mitchell and sophomore Bryanna Williams, and the 4x400 relay team of Anderson, S. Williams, freshman Alea Stevens and freshman Josephine Watson both finished with the second-best time of any NEC school at the Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
Freshman Shanice Grant represented LIU on the NEC All-Rookie Team in the 100-meter dash (12.59), and Richard received two awards for her marks in the long jump (5.42m) and 100-meter hurdles.
