BROOKLYN, N.Y. - The LIU Brooklyn men's soccer team (0-2-0) hosts George Washington in its home opener Friday, Sept. 6 at LIU Field at 6:00 p.m. Live stats and video are both available above. The Blackbirds have won their last three home openers.
ABOUT THE BLACKBIRDS
LIU began the 2013 season with a trip to California to take on San Francisco and Saint Mary's. The Blackbirds fell in both games, but saw promise from numerous players. Junior forward David Nuernberg registered three shots, including one on goal, against Saint Mary's last Sunday to lead the squad, while goalkeeper John Connolly currently is tied for first in the Northeast Conference for saves with nine.
SCOUTING GEORGE WASHINGTON
The Colonials opened the season with a 3-1 loss American and followed up with a 2-0 win over Howard two days later. George Washington finished 2012 with a 5-13-0 (2-7-0 A-10) record, including a 1-0 win in double overtime against the Blackbirds in the two teams' first meeting in program history. The Colonials were picked to finish 10th in the Atlantic-10 preseason poll, while returning 14 players from last season.

The Blackbirds take the weekend off before returning to LIU Field for a meeting with a second Atlantic-10 opponent, La Salle, on Wednesday, Sept. 11 at 6:00 p.m. Then on Friday, LIU makes the short trip to Riverdale to take on MAAC foe Manhattan at 7:00 p.m.
