BOSTON, Mass. - The LIU Brooklyn women's track and field team competed at the Terrier Invitational hosted by Boston University, in Boston, Mass.
Junior Katrina Anderson continued her record-breaking ways in the 800-meter run. Anderson's time of 2:09.96 broke her own mark set just last week of 2:11.85 by nearly two seconds. She also finished in third place, the best finish of any Blackbird on the day.
Ja'Mesha Richard was 10th in the preliminaries of the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.90, just one spot out of qualifying for finals. Camille Thomas was 29th, running to a time of 9.29.
Other highlights for the Blackbirds were in the 60-meter dash, where Bryanna Williams finished 12th in 7.74. In the 200-meter dash, Josephine Watson and Anise Cuffee were 20th (25.11) and 21st (25.16) in a field of 163, respectively. Richard was 32nd, while Williams was 34th.
In the 400-meter dash, Shakia Williams was the top finisher for LIU in a field of a 111, placing 36th in 58.02.
LIU Brooklyn's 4x400-meter relay squad placed seventh out of 43 teams. The team of Anderson, Watson, Alea Stevens and Cuffee finished with a time of 3:49.97.
The women's track and field team returns to action back in New York at The Armory on Jan. 31st to compete in the Metropolitan Championships.
