Final Results
NEW YORK, N.Y. - The LIU Brooklyn women's track and field team returned to The Amory Friday for the final meet before the Northeast Conference Indoor Championships, as the Blackbirds competed in the Metropolitan Championships.
Kyaira Wright-Harmon posted the best finish of the day for the Blackbirds, placing second in the high jump with a leap of the 1.65m. Wright-Harmon then finished third in the long jump, at 5.48m, while Maria Luzon was seventh at 5.34.
Three LIU Brooklyn athletes finished inside the top-10 in the 400-meter dash. Josephine Watson was sixth in 58.13, while Anise Cuffee was seventh in 58.39. Katrina Anderson was 10th in 59.20.
Anderson also competed in the 1000-meter run, placing sixth in 3:01.26.
Other prominent results for the Blackbirds included Ja'Mesha Richard's fifth-place finish in the 60-meter dash (7.80) and seventh-place finish in the triple jump (10.97m). In the 500-meter dash, Marielena Rivera was 9th at 1:18.23 and Shakia Williams was seventh at 1:18.37.
The Blackbirds 4x400 relay squad of Alea Stevens, Bryanna Williams, Rivera and Shanice Grant placed third out of 13 schools with their time of 3:54.73.
