BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The LIU Brooklyn men's soccer team gears up for two major Northeast Conference away games this weekend, first facing Robert Morris on Friday, Oct. 17 at 3:00 p.m. before traveling to Loretto, Pa. to take on Saint Francis U. on Sunday, Oct. 19 at 5:00 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT
The Blackbirds earned a huge 2-1 win over preseason-favorite Central Connecticut on Friday at LIU Field. Senior Brice Merwine started his final conference season on high-note, scoring both goals. He now has nine of the season and is tied for seventh in the nation in total goals. Senior Keaton Sprague and freshman Isak Doumbia each added an assist.
ABOUT THE BLACKBIRDS
LIU earned three points from its win on Friday, and is tied for second in the NEC standings heading into this weekend's matches. Despite ranking last in shots in the league, the Blackbirds are fourth in goals, points, goals per game and assists per game. Merwine is also second in points, points per game, goals and goals per game, while junior Tanner Sica is tied for third in assists.
ABOUT THE COLONIALS
Robert Morris is 0-2 to start out the conference season, despite having the nation's leader in goals, Neco Brett, who has 13 on the season. The Colonials fell to Bryant and Fairleigh Dickinson in overtime over the weekend. Robert Morris leads the NEC in most major offensive categories, and is second in shots. The team averages 11.77 shots per game and 1.54 goals.

ABOUT THE RED FLASH
Saint Francis is 1-1 in the NEC to start conference play, and 7-5-1 overall. The Red Flash defeated Fairleigh Dickinson, but fell to league-leading Bryant 1-0 on Sunday. Francis DeVries is the leading scoring for SFU, with four goals on the season. Three other team members have two goals. As a team, the Red Flash average 10.5 shots per game and 1.00 goals per game. They are second in the conference with a 1.06 goals against average and also have six shutouts this season.
