NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The LIU Brooklyn women's tennis team competed at the United States Tennis Association (USTA)/Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Northeast Regional Championships last weekend. Senior Sanne Louwers and sophomore Marine Dans took on some of the best players in the Northeast at the annual tournament at Yale's Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center.

Dans fell in the second round of the play-in draw. In her first match, she beat Madison Craft from Boston University, 6-3, 7-5, before falling to Irina Preotescu from St. John's, 7-6(5), 6-2. 

Louwers had a main draw win to start the weekend off, beating Katie DeRienzo from Sacred Heart, 7-5, 6-3, before falling to last year's regional champion Kanika Vaidya from Columbia, 6-1, 6-0.

The duo also paired up in the main doubles draw, where they fell in the first round to Sherry Li and Carol Finke from Yale, 8-3.
