MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The LIU Brooklyn women's track and field team completed a sucessful day at the Coastal Carolina Invite on Friday to open up outdoor competition in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Ja'Mesha Richard started the meet off with a win in the long jump, with a leap of 5.57m. Kyaira Wright-Harmon was right behind Richard in third at 5.51m, while Maria Luzon placed eighth with 5.30m.
Luzon's best finish of the day came in the 100-meter hurdles. She was only .01 out of first place with her time of 15.41.
Other top competitors for LIU Brooklyn included Camille Thomas, who was sixth in the 100-meter dash in 13.19.
The Blackbirds return to action tomorrow for the second and final day of competition.
